Portuguese for Foreigners
Hello, visitor, welcome to Lexema for foreigners!
This section aims to encourage the learning of Portuguese and Brazilian culture; the main focus is help people to improve their reading, speaking and understanding skills. Portuguese is listed as the sixth most spoken language in the world in terms of native speakers, and eight out of every ten people speaking the language today are Brazilians. Many cultural aspects are important to understand a native speaker; some of these are due the fact that the Brazilian Portuguese is more contextual than some European languages. An example of this is the use of the word “não” (no / nope), most foreigners ask “Why is it so hard for us to say no?” And I usually think about: “it is a question we can discuss here on this blog”. Some contents on the weblog are directly related to this section, search terms and tags like these: Cultura Brasileira (or Brazilian Culture), Para Estrangeiros (or For Foreigners), Iniciante (Beginner), Intermediário (Intermediate), Avançado (Advanced), Para Hispanófonos (Para Hispanohablantes).
If you came here, maybe you are a Brazil enthusiast. Let’s know more about Portuguese and Brazilian culture.
Have a nice experience!
